Terms of use
The terms for using Diveology, the website and the iPhone app. Updated 29 October 2026.
Who we are
Diveology is run by Drew McKillican in Australia. By using Diveology you agree to these terms and to how we handle your information in the privacy policy. The iPhone app is also covered by Apple's standard licence agreement. Questions: support@diveology.com.au.
A logbook, not a dive computer
Diveology records the dives you have done. It does not plan dives, work out decompression or warn you underwater. Dive within your training and your certification, with your own dive computer or tables. The figures it shows, such as depths, breathing rates and profiles, come from what you or your dive computer recorded and can be wrong: never rely on them for your safety.
Your account
Keep your devices and passkeys safe: what is done in your account is your responsibility. You need to be old enough to agree to these terms where you live, or have a parent or guardian agree for you.
Your logbook is yours
You own what you log. You let us keep it, copy it between your devices and show it where you choose, only so Diveology can work for you.
What you share
You can share a dive site into the directory, and parts of a dive with a buddy you link with. What you share must be true as far as you know and yours to share. Do not share anything offensive, abusive, hateful, sexual, unlawful or misleading, or another person's private place or information. We have no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour.
A site you share can be seen and used by every Diveology diver until you take it back. You can report a site or a diver, and block a diver, in the app. We review every report within a day, and we may take down anything, or close any account, that breaks these terms.
Premium
Premium adds your online account and sync, the website, imports, dive computer downloads and buddy links. It is a subscription bought through Apple: A$7.99 a month or A$79.99 a year in Australia, with the price in your country shown before you buy. New subscribers get one week free. Payment is charged to your Apple Account, and the subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel it in your iPhone's Settings, under your name, Subscriptions. Refunds are handled by Apple. We may also give Premium at no charge. If Premium ends, your logbook is not deleted.
Using Diveology fairly
Do not copy the dive site directory in bulk, use automated tools to read Diveology, try to break into it or overload it, or use it to harm anyone. OpenStreetMap's sites stay available under its own licence.
Changes, and ending
Diveology will change as we improve it. If these terms change in a way that matters, we will tell you before the change applies. You can delete your account at any time. If we ever close Diveology, we will give at least 60 days' notice so you can export your logbook.
Our responsibility
Nothing in these terms takes away your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Otherwise Diveology is provided as it is, and as far as the law allows we are not responsible for indirect loss, or for loss from relying on Diveology for dive planning or safety. Where our responsibility can be limited, it is limited to supplying the service again or refunding what you paid us in the last 12 months.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of Australia.
Diveology for iPhone is on its way
Your online logbook and this website come with the app. Until it is in the App Store, by invitation.
